MADERA COUNTY – Motorists traveling on State Route 41 in Madera County should plan for delays next Tuesday as the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) conducts a scheduled maintenance and drainage operation through the Rocky Cut area.
According to Caltrans, one-way traffic control will be in effect on Tuesday, January 27, through the Rocky Cut section of Highway 41, located south of Jewel Vista Court. The traffic control will cover approximately a half-mile stretch of roadway and will impact both northbound and southbound lanes.
The operation is scheduled to take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During this time, drivers should expect intermittent delays as traffic is alternated through the work zone. Caltrans advises motorists to allow extra travel time when passing through the area.
Caltrans noted that the scheduled time frame may be extended if necessary, due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances beyond the agency’s control.

Drivers are reminded to use extra caution when traveling through construction zones, remain alert for highway workers and equipment, and follow posted signage and flagger instructions. Caltrans also encourages motorists to “Slow for the Cone Zone” to help ensure the safety of both road crews and fellow travelers.
For those commuting or traveling through the mountain corridor, planning ahead and adjusting travel times may help reduce inconvenience during the maintenance window.
