NORTH FORK, CA – Water is essential for every aspect of your well-being, yet its significance often goes unappreciated in daily routines.  Water is more than just a thirst quencher – it’s a key player in maintaining your overall health.  The quality of the water you drink makes a difference in its ability to provide what your body needs.

Water carries information from your environment into your cells.  Every cell in your body needs water to function properly.  It helps regulate body temperature through sweating and breathing.  Water removes toxins through urine and bowel movements.  It is needed to lubricate your joints, promoting easier and pain-free movement.  Water aids in the breakdown of food and the absorption of nutrients in the digestive system, and helps soften stool and prevent constipation.  Your blood is mostly water, and water is necessary for proper electrolyte balance.  Well-hydrated skin has better elasticity and less wrinkles.  Dehydration can affect brain function, and cause symptions such as fatigue, lack of mental clarity, confusion, poor memory and mood swings.

Maintaining proper hydration is key to overall health and well-being.  How much water should you drink?  A good starting place is about 1 cup per hour while awake.  Some factors that may increase your water needs include sweating, sugary foods, caffeinated beverages, high activity levels, certain medical conditions such as diabetes and diarrhea, pregnancy and breastfeeding.  You also obtain water from eating fresh fruits and vegetables.  Watermelon, cucumber and citrus fruits are particularly high in water.

There are three qualities of healthy water.

  1. Free of toxins
  2. Contains minerals
  3. It is structured

Treated city water contains toxins such as chlorine and fluoride.  Water may be contaminated from industry, agriculture or mining.  Know your water source and take the necessary action to make sure toxins are removed if likely to be present.  The best water is spring water, and then well water.  Water stored in plastic is contaminated and should be avoided.  Stop buying water bottled in plastic.  Use a glass or unlined metal water bottle to carry your drinking water when traveling.

Minerals occur naturally in water and are essential to health.  These minerals can naturally dissolve into water from rocks, soil and sediments.  They play an important role in taste, quality and the health benefits of water.  If you are using a water treatment system such as reverse osmosis or distillation (not recommended), the minerals are removed.  You can add some back by using a pinch of unrefined salt, such as Celtic Sea Salt or Baja Gold.

Structured water is water in its natural state.  It is in motion, and in contact with the earth, natural light, and natural electromagnetic fields.  Water must be structured to perform its functons properly.  The structure of water is destroyed by chemicals, man-made electromagnetic fields, and modern municipal water treatment.  Imagine water bubbling up from a spring, or flowing over rocks down a mountain stream.  This is natural, healthy water.

How can you restructure your water?  A simple way is to stir it clockwise and then counterclockwise several times.  There are several devices available that can help by mimicking the motion of water moving over rocks in a creek.  My favorite method is the Analemma Wand.  You simply stir your water with it.

High quality drinking water is essential for maintaining good health and overall well-being. It supports the body’s natural functions, helps prevent illness, and is a key part of a healthy lifestyle.
