CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A tragic case out of Clovis has a major update. 37-year-old Geoffry Bernardi died after police said he was viciously beaten.
Clovis Police confirmed they have identified a person of interest in this homicide investigation and that they believe he was targeted.
Bernardi was beaten beyond recognition near his apartment at Barstow Avenue and Highway 168 in December 2025. YourCentralValley.com spoke to his mom just days before Christmas.
“The whole family is a mess. I come from a very big family with lots of children and grandchildren, so it’s very hard,” Geoffrey Bernardi’s mother, Erin Adams, said in a previous interview.
Clovis Police confirm they have identified a “person of interest” in this case.
“We are not releasing that information as to who that person is, and they are still processing evidence at this point,” Clovis Police Sergeant Jordan Hunter said.
Sergeant Hunter explained that their detectives are working around the clock, looking into every lead in order to bring justice to Bernardi’s family.
“We do believe that this was a targeted event and was not a random act of violence,” Sergeant Hunter said.
He added that their investigation faced challenging circumstances, including the time of the assault.
“Happened in the very early morning hours. There’s not a lot of people out. So not a lot of independent witnesses is a challenge,” Sergeant Hunter said.
They are uncertain how much longer it could take for an arrest.
“Could take days, could take weeks, could take months. We don’t know at this point. We’re working closely with all of our partners who assist us in processing the evidence. And it just takes time. We’re asking for patience as we get through this,” Sergeant Hunter said.
