Teen fatally shot in Hanford, suspects still at large

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Hanford, according to police.

According to officials, the Hanford Police Department was told about shots fired around 10 a.m. on Friday at the Casa del Sol Apartments in Hanford. The 17-year-old was found on the ground with a gunshot wound and died at the scene.

Surveillance footage and witnesses at the scene were able to help officers identify a suspect vehicle and two suspects. Officials say the suspect vehicle matched the description of a vehicle found in a residential area near Ogden Street and Hayden Avenue.

SWAT surrounded the home and entered the building to find that the two accused shooters they were looking for were not inside. Police say the people inside the home at the time were not connected to the shooting.

A motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the identities of those involved have not been officially released.

The incident remains under investigation.
