Highway 99 reopens after 59-vehicle crash near Earlimart

TULARE COUNTY, Calif (KSEE/KGPE)- The California Highway Patrol reported a major multi-vehicle collision involving 59 vehicles on Highway 99 near Earlimart on Saturday.

Authorities said Highway 99 was previously closed in both directions from Avenue 24 to the Kern County line. Several people suffered minor to moderate injuries. No life-threatening injuries were also reported.

Emergency crews from Kern County Fire and Visalia City Fire were assisting the CHP at the scene.

The detours that were in place have since been lifted. CHP reported that all lanes are open and traffic is flowing.

Officials urge motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and remain alert, especially in congested or low-visibility conditions, to ensure safety.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
