OAKHURST, CA – The Oakhurst Sunrise Rotary Club is preparing to spice up the spring season with its 31st Annual Cajun Fest, set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Oakhurst Community Center. The longtime community tradition combines hearty Cajun cuisine, live social atmosphere, and fundraising efforts that support local service projects throughout Eastern Madera County.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person, with a $5 discount available for guests who reserve full tables of eight or ten. The evening will feature a menu of shrimp, ribs, slaw, dirty rice, vegetarian Cajun pasta, and dessert, along with a no-host bar. Guests can also participate in a silent auction, raffle drawings, and door prizes, all designed to help raise funds for local community needs.

Proceeds from Cajun Fest go directly back into programs and assistance efforts across the mountain area, supporting youth, education, senior services, and other charitable initiatives that the club champions year-round. Organizers say the event continues to thrive because it blends entertainment with a clear purpose — neighbors helping neighbors.

Sponsors already stepping forward to support this year’s event include Macaulay Insurance Agency and Sierra Asset Management, whose contributions help maximize the amount of money directed to community programs.

Rotary’s Local and Global Mission

The Oakhurst Sunrise club is one of thousands of chapters operating under the umbrella of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization made up of more than 1.4 million members. Rotary clubs focus on humanitarian service, leadership development, and community improvement, tackling issues ranging from local food insecurity to global challenges such as clean water access, literacy, disaster response, and disease eradication.

Perhaps most notably, Rotary has played a leading role in the global campaign to eradicate polio, partnering with international health organizations and governments to reduce cases worldwide by more than 99 percent. Across the United States, local Rotary clubs regularly fund scholarships, youth leadership programs, veteran support initiatives, and community infrastructure projects — work often carried out quietly but with lasting impact.

A Tradition of Community Connection

For more than three decades, Cajun Fest has served as one of the Oakhurst Sunrise Rotary’s signature events, drawing residents from across the foothills for an evening of food, fellowship, and philanthropy. Organizers encourage early reservations, noting the event frequently sells out.

With its mix of Louisiana-style cooking and Sierra-style community spirit, the Cajun Fest continues to stand as a reminder that local gatherings can create meaningful change far beyond a single evening.
