Focus On Vibrant Health – The Power of Emotional Well-Being

NORTH FORK, CA – Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and difficult times.  It does not mean being happy all of the time.  Emotional and physical health are inseparable, and the way they have been divided in modern health care is not helpful and is actually downright harmful.  When you stop and think about it, you know this.  When we are feeling angry or anxious about something, we feel it in our physical body.  If we are chronically in an emotional state that we judge as negative, this has consequences.

Nearly one in three people with a long-term physical health condition also has emotional health challenges.  Research shows a clear connection between emotional and physical health.  Examples include heart disease, digestive issues, diabetes, susceptibility to illnesses and infections, asthma, obesity, energy levels, ability to concentrate, headaches, muscle tension, and more.  The mind-body connection is real.

The things we have discussed in previous articles are critically important for your whole health, both emotional and physical.  Eating well improves your sense of wellbeing and your mood.  Physical activity releases feel-good endorphins and improves mental alertness, energy and mood.  Good quality sleep improves energy and mood.  Spending time outside in natural light improves mood and helps sleep.  Again, we intuitively know these things.  Get creative to find ways to put this information to good effect in your life.  Start small, choosing something that is easy to do and that you believe will help.  It is worth it!
