
LOS BANOS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 21-year-old man who went missing near the San Luis Reservoir was found safe Sunday after he had been lost for almost two days, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say deputies responded around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday to the Cottonwood Creek Wildlife Area for a report of a missing person. The sheriff’s office says 21-year-old Hector Faburrieta Ramirez had been missing since about 6 p.m. on Saturday after getting separated from his hiking and hunting group.
According to deputies, Ramirez was found around noon Sunday. He was described as slightly dehydrated but otherwise okay and received medical care.
Officials say deputies began searching immediately with help from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. The Merced County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Mariposa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, and the sheriff’s office’s Sable 6 helicopter also assisted in the search.
