The Bright Lights Fire started late in the afternoon on March 18, 2026 and is located approximately 6 miles southeast of Claude, Texas. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment. Local fire departments on the scene include Armstrong, Panhandle, Groom, Pantex and Randall. Texas A&M Forest Service and local fire departments are in joint command of the fire. 

Forward progression of the fire has been stopped as of 8:00 PM on 3/16/26. The fire is currently being held with retardant line. Heavy equipment remains working to construct line where they are able.
