IDENTIFIED: 17-year-old killed after ATV loses wheel in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 17-year-old has been named as the person killed after the ATV they were driving lost a wheel and crashed into a tree.

According to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, 17-year-old Raul Zamora of Five Points passed away Thursday evening following a crash in the area of Colusa Avenue and Laguna Avenue.

Officers say Zamora was driving a red Yamaha Raptor 700R at around 9:30 p.m. when it lost a wheel, causing him to crash into a tree. The crash then threw Zamora from the vehicle, and he hit another tree. Officers say he was wearing a helmet, but he died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, officers say.

The crash remains under investigation.
