CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A family of four and a college campus are mourning the unexpected death of a professor at Clovis Community College (CCC).
The college announced earlier this week that engineering professor, 39-year-old Gurinder Khaira, passed away unexpectedly on May 13. He is survived by his wife and three children.
“We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences and continued prayers to Professor Khaira’s wife, kids, family, friends, and students,” CCC President Dr. Kim E. Armstrong wrote.
Students in the Engineering Renaissance (ER) Club, which he mentored, described Khaira as someone who devoted his time to ensuring they were prepared for their future engineering careers and to advocating for more opportunities for students on campus.
“The ER Club could not have existed without him and we express our deepest gratitude to him and his efforts. The club is an active testament to the quality of a man Professor Khaira was. The school and club will not be the same without him,” the ER Club wrote.
CCC says Khaira’s leadership was instrumental in the ER Club earning 1st place at the MAT ROV competition in 2024.
Anyone who would like to help Khaira’s wife and three children as they mourn can donate to this GoFundMe.
