Short grass, brush, dead and downed, timber. A significant amount of dead/downed woody debris and large diameter logs from the 2004 Peppin Fire provide a receptive fuel bed at the higher elevations. A transition to timber litter, bunch grass, and pockets of brush predominate at the mid-elevations with stringers of ponderosa pine where the active fire is currently located.
