Current Conditions:
On 6/14, the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team continued developing emergency stabilization recommendations based on their field assessments of post-fire conditions. Using information collected during their evaluations, the team is identifying immediate threats to life, safety, property, and critical natural and cultural resources that may be caused by the fire. The team is preparing recommendations for emergency stabilization measures designed to reduce risks including erosion, flooding, hazardous trees, infrastructure damage, and impacts to sensitive resources. These recommendations will help park staff prioritize actions needed as the island recovers from the fire.
Closures:
Santa Rosa Island is closed to all day and overnight use through at least June 30, 2026, due to the wildfire. Backcountry camping within the southeastern quadrant of Santa Rosa Island will remain closed for the remainder of the 2026 recreation season.
