Less Than One-Day Supply Remains; O-Negative Blood Critical for Emergency Care and NICU Babies
The Central California Blood Center is issuing an urgent appeal for O-negative blood donors as supplies have dropped to less than a one-day inventory, creating a critical need across the region.
O-negative blood is the universal blood type and is often used in life-threatening emergencies when there is no time to determine a patient’s blood type. It is essential for trauma patients, emergency surgeries, and vulnerable newborns in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).
Without immediate donations, hospitals may face challenges maintaining adequate supplies for emergency care and critically ill infants.
