MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man suspected of driving under the influence was also found with laughing gas and numerous illegal fireworks in Madera County Tuesday evening, Madera CHP announced.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they arrested a man on a charge of DUI after being found with nitrous oxide tanks, which were believed to be used for inhaling.
Officers also reported finding numerous illegal fireworks inside his vehicle.
“Illegal fireworks can cause serious injuries, start devastating fires, damage property, and place first responders at risk. With dry conditions throughout Madera County, it only takes one spark to cause a tragedy,” Madera CHP wrote.
CHP says the fireworks were turned over to Cal Fire for proper disposal.
