FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A driver died, and another was hospitalized Monday morning after a rear-end crash in Fresno, the police department announced.

Fresno Police reported just after 11:40 a.m., they responded to a collision near the intersection of Maple and Gettysburg avenues.

Officers say the driver in the black sedan seen below was heading eastbound on Gettysburg Avenue when they were rear-ended by a white truck traveling behind them.

Police clarified the driver of the black sedan died from their injuries at the scene, along with their dog; the truck driver who initiated the collision was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

The driver who died at the scene has not been officially identified.
