FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fresno Police officer was hospitalized after a rollover crash with an SUV Saturday afternoon, the Fresno Police Department announced.

Just before 3:40 p.m., officers were responding to a report of a felony assault with a weapon when they crossed through the intersection of Belmont and Clovis avenues.

Police say as they crossed the intersection, they became involved in a collision with another vehicle. The officer’s vehicle rolled over several times before landing on its wheels.

Responding officers provided medical aid to the officer and civilian involved.

Investigators are actively reviewing body camera footage and gathering information from witnesses to determine who was at fault.
