Filing Instructions


Effective January 1, 2024

Per Assembly Bill 878, Chaptered 6/29/23, and effective January 1, 2024: Sections 17913, 17919, 17920, 17922, and 17923 of the Business and Professions Code Sections were amended to remove the registered owner/registrant’s residence address from all Fictitious Business Name (FBN) statement filings and replace it with the business’ mailing address for privacy purposes. This includes originals, amendments, renewals, abandonments, and withdrawal FBN filings, as well as the Proof of Publication. 

Effective January 1, 2014

Pursuant to changes in Business and Professions Code Section 17913(d) and 17913(e), effective January 1, 2014, all registrants submitting Fictitious Business Name Statements for filing will be required to present current and valid government-issued identification.

After the appropriate form is filed with the County Clerk the document must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the County of Mariposa (The Mariposa Gazette).
