Pete Dern has more surgery, appreciates community support

We continue to follow the progress of a Fresno firefighter injured in the line of duty.

Last month, captain Pete Dern was severely burned while fighting a house fire. Since then, he’s had several surgeries for his burn wounds. He had another surgery yesterday.

His hand wounds were dressed with negative pressure wound therapy, which helps to remove fluids and protect the wounds. The surgery went well and he was smiling this morning. Captain Dern says he appreciates the support from his family, friends and the community.
