PG&E Explosion Pipeline To be Tested Monday

A judge says the court has no jurisdiction to interfere in testing of the PG&E pipeline involved in an explosion in Northwest Fresno.

Attorneys tried to file a restraining order on the testing. Arguing there was little transparency since the California Public Utilities Commission would not allow it to be video taped.

Testing is scheduled for Monday at Exponent laboratories in Menlo Park to determin what may have caused the explosion.

"We were just concerned about preserving the evidence and making sure everyone had a fair chance at testing and making sure we had the ability to have our expert there and it seems we have accomplished that," Butch Wagner an attorney for three of the victims said.

PG&E attorneys said a compromise have been made. They will allow the victim’s attorneys to have an expert witness at the testing and video tapping on the first day only.

But the compromise is not completely satisfactory.

"No I want the whole testing video tapped and I hop they the CPUC sees the wisdom in behind video tapping a process like this that way no ones credibility or recollection will be called into question," Wagner said.
