Police Action near Downtown Fresno

A police action is underway near Downtown Fresno.  Officers have shut down Clark street between Grant and McKenzie and the SWAT team has been called in to try and bring out a known gang member.  Fresno Police say 38-year-old Johnny Vega went to see an associate in the area, and once he was let into the apartment, the victim says Vega threatened him with an assault rifle.  After stealing the man’s cell phone, Vega left.  He was later scene going back to his apartment.  It’s in a four-plex at 358 N. Clark.  Police have been at that location since three this morning attempting to make contact with Vega.  Just before eight this morning the SWAT team was called to the scene.  Neighbors in the area have all been evacuated.
