In health matters, public health officials are reminding people not to treat swimming pools like toilets. The C-D-C says nearly 2,000 people became sick in 2011 and 2012 from contaminated pool water and one person died. More than three-quarters of the outbreaks were linked to swimming pools treated with chlorine and other disinfectants. In fact, the C-D-C says burning eyes are a symptom from chlorine reacting to urine . People are encourage to shower before and after swimming… stop for frequent bathroom breaks… and try not to swallow the pool water.
