StoryCorps Is Here In The Valley – Here’s How They Produce Such Poignant Interviews

If you’re a regular NPR listener, you probably know StoryCorps. It’s a weekly radio show that produces uniquely poignant, intimate interviews. “The summary that I always give participants is that we’re a non-profit that travels the country and collects people’s stories as part of adding to this oral history that we have,” says Ava Ahmadbeigi, site manager for the organization’s mobile storytelling booth. In partnership with FM89, StoryCorps will be camping out – literally – in the San Joaquin Valley for the next six weeks to collect your unique experiences. In this interview, Ahmadbeigi peels back the curtain on the StoryCorps oral history process with FM89’s Kerry Klein, beginning by playing a favorite show segment. The StoryCorps Airstream will be located in Fresno and Bakersfield until March 20. If you have a story you want to share, you can sign up for an in-person interview online , or you can contribute through the StoryCorps mobile app.
