Sweet corn goes on sale at Fresno State

There were long lines at Fresno State this morning as a valley favorite returned just in time for summer.

People lined up hours before doors opened at the Gibson Farm Market to be the first to get their hands on some sweet corn. Last year, the corn sold out in less than two hours on the first day. So this morning it was about making sure they didn’t leave empty handed.

"The last time I came, I missed it. Got to the door and we sold out," Paula Holguin said.

After waiting nearly a year for the next crop, fans of Fresno State’s sweet corn say the flavor can’t be beat, which makes sitting in line worth while.

"You just wan that perfect corn. And this is where you come to get that perfect piece of corn. This is gonna be awesome, and it tastes so good," Pilar Flores said.

By 10 a.m. nearly 14,000 ears were sold. Right now there’s still some corn left, but don’t worry if you miss out today. There will be more tomorrow and periodically throughout the summer.
