Two Men Shot in Central Fresno

Fresno police are investigating a shooting that has left two men hospitalized and a third man with a possible graze wound.

Police are searching for the gunmen, who are still on the loose.

The shooting happened just before eight Monday night at the Peppertree Apartments at Pontiac and Clark.

Police are trying to determine what motivated the shooting.

One man is in critical condition. Another with less serious wounds. And a third man grazed by a bullet.

Detectives have been here at the Peppertree Apartments at Pontiac and Saginaw, talking to witnesses who saw or heard the shooting.

The victims appear to be friends and police say they were outside talking when they were confronted by the gunmen.

"They walked up and began firing at the victims who were sitting outside their apartment complex. So we don’t know if it’s gang related or drug related. We’re still looking into that aspect of it," said Lt. Phil Cooley, with the Fresno Police Department.

One of the victims is in his 20s, another in his 40s, and the man who was grazed by a bullet is in his 50s.

Witnesses told officers the gunmen left in a white car.

If you know anything about the shooting, police are asking that you call them at 621-7000 or call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. You will remain anonymous.
