Three people were killed in a two vehicle crash in Los Banos, two were local teachers.

CHP says 30 year old George Andrade was driving at a high rate of speed in his VW Passate just before 11 pm Tuesday night. He lost control on Ingomar Grade just West of Sylvester Road.

"The driver of the VW was unable to negotiate the curve. Crossed over into the opposing lane and hit the Saturn head on," CHP Officer Dean Emehiser said.

In the Saturn, 30 year old Los Banos High School teacher Michael Bartlett and his father 58 year old Brett Bartlett who is a substitute teacher.

CHP says all three people died at the scene.

"I was getting ready for a good day and some body said did you hear Mr. Bartlett died. I said which one because his father was a substitute teacher here and his father was very well loved," Ann Brewer a math teacher at Los Banos High said.

Students wrote letters to and taped them to Michael Bartlett’s classroom.

Ann Brewer taught in the classroom next to Mr. Bartlett’s and says over the years they became friends.

He was chair of the math department, oversaw several student clubs and was helping to develop their common core curriculum.

"He was a good friend and was willing to listen to anyone complain and he never judged anyone. And when you were done complaining and you went away happy he was happy to," Brwer said.

CHP says alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident.

Counselors are available to students and staff dealing with this loss.
