Weekend Fun: A List of Fun Events in the Valley

Plenty of fun stuff going on in the Valley on this warm weekend. We’ve rounded up some winners in our weekend fun report.
-Thousands of people are expected in the Tower District Saturday for the annual Pride Parade and Festival. It’s meant to celebrate and increase acceptance of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. The event includes informational booths, food vendors, speakers, music and live performers. It kicks off with a parade from 10am-11am along Olive Avenue. The festival is from 11-3pm.
-Calling all motorcyclists. A 75-mile poker run will benefit critically injured Fresno Fire Captain Pete Dern, who is undergoing treatment in a Fresno hospital after falling through the roof of a burning garage back in March. Riders will leave Starbucks at River View Shopping Center in north Fresno and make several card draw stops along the way. It includes a tri-tip lunch, live music, a huge raffle and a chance to win a 55-inch LCD Smart TV donated by Sam’s Club. It’s $ 30 per rider and $ 20 for a passenger. To register, visit sierrashadowcasters.com. You can also register the day of the event.
-You’re invited to experience the taste and sounds of Serbia at the 21st Annual Serbian Festival. It will feature ethnic foods, pastries, live Serbian music and dancing from the Balkans. There will also be a silent auction. The festival is Saturday at St. Peter Serbian Orthodox Church in Fresno. It’s from 3pm-10pm. Admission and parking is free!

-The first place Fresno Grizzlies kicks off a four-game homestand Saturday against the Reno Aces. Saturday is Joe Panik Bobblehead Night to celebrate his successful 2014 rookie campaign prior to his promotion to the San Francisco Giants in June 2014. Sunday, the Grizzlies are capitalizing on the release of the movie "Jurassic World" by transforming Chukchansi Park into a wildlife adventure.
