Willow Fire – (Madera County)

Location: off of Willow Canyon Drive and Road 274, southeast of Bass Lake

Incident Overview:
The fire began at 2:30 July 25, 2015. It started between road 274 and Douglas station road in the area of Bass Lake. Road 274 closed, and adjacent roads and both ways into Central Camp are closed. The area that is burning is in heavy fuels. At this time it has burned a reported 200 acres. Resident’s Central Camp have been evacuated and additional evacuation advisories have been issued in the Cascadel Woods and Bass Lake area. The Willow fire is 0% contained at this time. The fire is under unified command with Cal-Fire Madera and Mariposa unit. A type two team has been ordered and should take over tomorrow at 1600.

Evacuations:
– The Central Camp area was evacuated due to the fire.
-The American Red Cross has set up an evacuation center and is located at the Oakhurst Community Center, 39800 Road 425 B in Oakhurst, CA.

Closures:
-Road 274 between North Fork and Bass Lake and Willow Canyon Road remain closed until further notice.
-Gagges and Whiskers campgrounds are closed.

Willow Fire: Tuesday July 28th 2015,

Today, United States Forest Service Law Enforcement Investigators have identified the cause of the Willow Fire on the Sierra National Forest started July 25th 2015 to be human caused.

USFS Law Enforcement Officers working in conjunction with the Madera County District Attorney’s Office have identified a juvenile suspect in relation to the cause of the fire.

District Attorney David Linn said “We will continue working with USFS Investigators throughout the judicial process”
