Woman arrested after fire in downtown Fresno

A woman was arrested on suspicion of intentionally setting a house on fire.

The abandoned house on F street and Ventura was engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Fresno Fire says there have been at least two or three fires at this same home in the past. For safety reasons, they decided to let it burn down.

"What happens with these boarded up structures is we get people that break in to them and set a fire. Now there is hardly anything to board up. The whole back of this thing was already burned up before it started today," Don Bier, a battalion chief with Fresno Fire said.

The woman was taken into custody for arson after witnesses say they saw her start the fire. One person was injured.
