Court Documents Reveal Details Leading To Murder Suicide

Court documents show Zyang Vang filed for a marriage annulment in 2004. She states she married when she was only twelve years old and was bought from her parents for $ 3500. At the time of marriage, Neng Moua was 21 so Vang believed her marriage was unrealistic since the beginning. For the last ten years they had a custody and property battle that ended tragically Tuesday morning.

"A 33 year old asian female was shot and killed inside the business and the suspect who we believed was her estranged husband, committed suicide and killed himself," Deputy Police Chief Pat Farmer said at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Pictures show Vang as a happy mother of seven but documents tell a different story. She feared for her life and her children’s, she had reported being choked by Moua and threatened many times.

"We do know there was prior domestic violence with the Fresno Police Department documenting a case 11 years ago. That was the las contact we had with the suspect," Farmer said.

The abuse led to a restraining order and custody arrangement in which Moua was granted supervised visits with his children but also had to pay child support. Yesterday witnesses reported Moua showed up at the medical office to confront Vang.

Rae Pardini with the Marjaree Mason Center said "In this unfortunate instance, it shed light on the issue and brings awareness to the issue that it is a problem in our community." The center is a resource local women can use to escape abusive environments.

"We can guide you through these types of situations so that you’re able to take the right steps and get out safely," Pardini said.

The most recent dispute filed by Vang was over a home that Vang was trying to obtain for her and five children ten years ago when she first escaped the abuse, documents say she was forced to live in a garage. A settlement on the property was not available today. More court documents will be available tomorrow.
