21st Annual Sikh Day Parade in Selma

The streets of Selma were shut down for a colorful celebration.

Yesterday was the 21st annual Selma Sikh Day Parade. Thousands came out to celebrate the beginning of the Sikh new year. Organizers say the parade has grown over the years, to nearly 8,000 people.

"It feels great. Every year we see more people come out to support the Sikh community. It feels really good," Pawandep Boparai, a parade attendee, said.

Many who attend say it’s an opportunity to experience the vibrant culture.
