Detective Edgar Valle Sandoval honored with announcement

Some sad news to report this morning, a Fresno Police officer who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, has lost his battle with the disease.

Detective Edgar Valle Sandoval was diagnosed with stage-four pancreatic cancer back in January. In March, hundreds of his fellow officers and department employees shaved their heads to show support.

Yesterday, his peers honored him one final time with the following announcement made over the police radio: Detective Valle Sandoval, thank you for over 11 years of service with the Fresno Police Department, your coworkers, family and citizens of Fresno. Your dedication to duty is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

This is the second time the family has dealt with a loss to cancer. Five years ago, Edgar’s seven-year-old daughter Natalia died from a brain tumor. An account has been set up to help his family.
