Early Morning Fatal Stabbing on Vassar

The incident happened at a quadplex near Blackstone and Clinton. When they got to the scene they found one man dead. Neighbors tell us they heard loud music and what sounded like a party. But when police got there, they say they found a man who was stabbed to death.

Imagine waking up to a crime scene next door. That’s what happened when Josie Diaz and Cathy Miranda stepped outside this morning. They say they were shocked to hear what happened.

"That brought chills to me because it was so close, I don’t live here but my sister in law and nephew do and that was just too close to home", says Miranda.

An early morning 911 call lead police to this quadplex in the 1200 block of east Vassar. Police say they found a 47 year old man who was stabbed to death. Two women were at the quadplex, one of which, is being questioned.

"Officers get out there and discover that maybe it wasn’t an accident, detectives then went out there to follow up as well and between the two, they discovered that the two that had called it in, may not have been telling the truth", says Lt. Mark Salazar with the Fresno Police Department.

Police say the man was stabbed multiple times in the chest and that it may have been a result of a domestic dispute.

Lt. Salazar says, "a person that he was dating off and on, lived at the house on Vassar and there was probably an issue between the two".

The department of justice also assisted in the investigation and crews say that so far they have not located the weapon used. Lieutenant Mark Salazar with the fresno police department says that they see more gun related crimes, than domestic violence cases in that area.

"Anytime you have those emotions and then your foster in some drinking and other things like that, things can get out of control", says Lt. Salazar.

"God bless, god bless their souls, I hope people think twice before these situations happen because tragedy is enough", says Diaz.

Police say that the autopsy should be complete this evening. we’ll continue to update you as we find out more information.
