Education Matters: Crucial Parental Involvement

Being involved in your child’s education is vital to their success.

Monday morning on Sunrise, Setha Mhim of Fresno County Office of Education discussed resources available to help parents get more involved.

The Parent Services Center at the FCOE:

·         Equip parents the tools to become advocate for their children

·         Dispel myth about parents and schools

·         Empower parents so they can become partner with schools

·         Disseminate information with regard to responsibilities and rights

·         Provide parent involvement training for parents

There is also help on school sites. 

Research shows when parents get involved in their children’s education, children:

Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviors

Attend school more regularly

Complete homework on time

Earn higher grades

Are more likely to enroll in college
