Fresno Man Carjacked and Forced at Gunpoint into Trunk of His Car

A Fresno man was allegedly carjacked in the middle of the night in Southwest Fresno on Wednesday morning and, according to the Fresno Police Department, forced at gunpoint to get in the trunk of his own car as two suspects drove him around.

The Fresno Police Department said the 20-year old victim was able to escape by pulling the emergency trunk release. Now, police are on the hunt for the two violent suspects.

The victim told police he had just left work at the Cargill meat packing plant on Fig Avenue around 2am on Wednesday morning. The man pulled over to Roy Avenue to take a phone call. He told police he was parked for about twenty minutes on the phone before he saw to African American men in their twenties approach his burgundy 2008 Lincoln MKZ with guns.

Lieutenant Joe Gomez said those two suspects allegedly pistol whipped the victim and forced him at gunpoint to get in the trunk of his car. The victim told police he had heard the car leave the roadway and drive onto dirt, and that is when he pulled the emergency trunk release and ran to a nearby home in the 6600 block of S. Elm and asked the resident there to call 911.

"I think it’s great that he did that, because you never know what’s going to happen, you know?" said Gomez.

The victim’s car was found abandoned near the intersection of Fig and Clayton, not too far from the house that the victim ran to for help.

Gomez said the victim suffered a deep cut to his forehead and other minor injuries.

He said, "He’s doing good, you know. You’re always going to feel very, when you’re victimized, it’s a bad feeling, and that lasts for a while. But, I’m glad it turned out alright for him."

Police warn drivers to always be aware of their surroundings.
