Classic holiday dishes may be tasty, but they can really throw a wrench in your efforts to maintain a healthy eating plan. The good news is that you don’t have to give up your favorite dish. Natural Health Practitioner Lesley Dresser says planning ahead and not depriving yourself are two things to keep in mind. When planning ahead, let the host know that you are trying to stick to your eating plan so they are not hurt if you don’t try everything on the table. Also loading up on fiber rich foods like veggies and almonds can really help curve your appetite so you don’t over indulge. If you must have your favorite dessert do it! Just remember to keep your portions small. Alcohol and bread are also other things to minimize. They turn into sugar in your body after digestion and can make you feel bloated. If you do happen to over indulge, Dresser says there is a quick solution to cleansing your body. Let a pitch of water steep with some slices of cucumber, lemons, and cilantro and drink it before you go to bed and the next day. It will help cleanse your liver and help you recover from your food coma.
