Local middle school gets a special guest speaker

Fresno State’s top dog at the university was given a warm welcome by students at Ahwahnee Middle School today.

University President Dr. Joseph Castro spoke to students about college and career opportunities. Dr. Castro has been going to several valley schools saying he understands what its like for students these days.

"It’s important that we believe in them and because I sat in desks like these in Hanford. I understand the lives that they’re living, and I’m excited for them. I think they have a very bright future," he said.

President Castro was also at Buchanan High School today. He says it’s important for Fresno State to connect with students at a young age.
