Parker B. has been placed on the disabled list

The Fresno Grizzlies’ mascot, Parker, has been placed on the disabled list.

Apparently, he was hit in the head by a pitch during a spring training workout at Chukchansi Park. Parker took a fastball to the face during batting practice this week. He was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital where he underwent facial surgery for fractures he suffered. He also got a concussion.

It’s a pretty grizzly injury, so his return for opening day is questionable.

"I think with a great deal of hibernation he’s going to be fine, but I can’t be sure he’s going to be ready for opening day. What I can assure you is here at Valley Children’s Hospital we have some of the best doctors and this is the best place for Parker to be taken care of," the doctor said.

Opening Day is April 9th, and the first pitch is at 7:05. Will Parker make it?
