Standoff Suspect Surrenders

A police standoff near Downtown Fresno ended just after nine this morning when the suspect surrendered to officers. The police action began at about three this morning when officers were called to the apartment of known gang member, 38-year-old Johnny Vega. Officers say it was reported he was high on drugs and had threatened and robbed a man nearby at gunpoint.
Once officers attempted to contact Vega, he refused to come out of his apartment. This is when Clark Street between Grant and McKenzie was closed to traffic. Shortly after seven this morning the SWAT team was called in to help convince Vega to come out. Vega will now face charges including assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and making terrorist threats.
