Three Innocent Victims Shot In Parlier

Three innocent victims including a city council member’s son were shot in Parlier Sunday night at Veteran’s Park on 6th St. Police say they have no gang affiliation and had just finished exercising when they were confronted by several men.

Sandra Ching is 18 year old Jacob Padilla’s aunt, a young man who had been exercising with two of his friends last night at Veteran’s Park. They were resting on the bleachers before heading home when they were confronted by several males dressed in black clothing and with their faces covered. Ching said they were asked about gang affiliation and then shot.

"They didn’t only hurt my nephew and the two boys, they hurt all of us, it’s not fair. Nobody deserves this, he’s not in a gang, why would they do that to him and to his friends," Ching said.

Jacob was shot three times, his mother is city council member Yolanda Padilla who along with other city leaders have been fighting for peace in Parlier

"Even with those efforts it’s really gonna take the community to help us, notify our police department, call dispatch if they see anything out of the ordinary," City Manager Israel Lara said.

The latest shooting happened only a day after Parlier Police had a multi agency gang sweep. "We are working with the sheriffs dept and all the agencies in the surrounding area to help us suppress gangs in this community. We’re also working with the DA to help us prosecute these cases," said Police Chief David Cerda.

All three victims remain at the hospital in stable condition, traumatized about almost being killed. "He was scared, he told me tia I promise you I’m never gonna be walking the streets again or even exercising," Ching said.

Police are reviewing surveillance video and are looking for a white or beige compact car. Anyone with information is asked to contact Parlier Police or Crime Stoppers.
