Tsarnaev Apologized to Victims, Sentenced to Death

A choked-up Dzhokhar Tsarnaev apologized to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings in court Wednesday morning, then was formally sentenced to die for the attack.
He addressed the court and the victims saying, "You told us just how unbearable it was, this thing I put you through. Now, I am sorry for the lives that I have taken." He later said, "I ask Allah for his mercy for me and my brother and my family."
The attack at the finish line killed three people and injured more than 260, including 17 who are now amputees. A police officer was also killed in a shoot out with the suspect and his brother, who was also killed and who the defense maintains was the mastermind behind the attack.
Before Tsarnaev addressed the court, victims had their chance to address Tsarnaev. One told him, "you will die alone in prison." Another expressed forgiveness.
Tsarnaev was then sentenced to death and taken from the courthouse in handcuffs.
