Woman Dead After Train Accident

A woman has died, after she was hit by an Amtrak train in Fresno Monday.

According to Fresno Police, the accident happened at 12:24PM, at the intersection of College and Clinton. Witnesses told Police the 58-year-old woman was walking eastbound, when she approached the tracks. Witnesses told Police they believe the woman was trying to beat the train, but was not able to walk fast enough to get out of the way.

Police say the woman was walking with a cane at the time of the accident.

At the time, Police said the 58-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries, with various fractures and internal injuries.

Police said the woman was taken to CRMC, after being given CPR at the scene by medics. Police said the woman subsequently passed away, during surgery.
