Eyewitnesses Describe Terror Inside Doctor’s Office During Murder-Suicide

Two people are dead in what Fresno police are investigating as a murder-suicide. Police suspect Neng Moua, 43, of entering Sang Pediatrics and shooting his estranged partner, a 34-year-old mother of seven.

Police and the Fresno County Coroner’s Office have not yet released her identity.

Dozens of police cars swarmed downtown Fresno, outside the Sang Pediatrics and Eye Medical Center offices located at 1122 S Street.

Frantic people ran for their lives at the scene of the murder-suicide.

Eyewitness Kelly Mek described the terror that unfolded inside.

"He says to her, ‘Why did you come to my house?’ and all that, and he said, he kept saying why. And she said, ‘I don’t know you, you need to leave.’ And that’s when he said, ‘I have no choice then, I have to do this,’ and he just grabbed her and dropped her in the ground, and he started hitting her," Mek said.

Police said Moua shot the victim several times at close range. After a few minutes, he turned the gun on himself.

"We all just got on the floor, turned off the lights, and we just kept hearing gunshots," said Maria Macias, an employee at one of the medical offices.

Eight employees and 8 patients were inside the offices of Sang Pediatrics and the Eye Medical Center that are connected, according to police.

Frantic family members and coworkers searched for each other.

Macias ran to her pregnant sister-in-law, relieved to find her safe, as police escorted her out of the building.

"It’s scary, my first thought were my children. I’m on the phone crying hearing gunshots. I called my son. I called my daughter," Macias said.

Even young patients witnessed the horror.

"I was holding my brother, and I just grabbed him and just ran into the other room," said a young girl.

The SWAT team prepared for a standoff. Police negotiators were on standby outside.

Inside, a 50-year-old-woman called 911, saying she was trapped inside with her three children, ages 14, 9 and 2.

"We kept constant communication with the woman and her three children–advised them to keep the door locked and stay in place. We had a SWAT team inside the building," said Deputy Chief Pat Farmer with the Fresno Police Department.

Police broke windows to pull those trapped to safety and free them from the terror inside.

The last time police came across Moua was 11 years ago when police said he was arrested for a domestic violence incident with the victim in this case.
